jason “jay” kale

occupation: n/a
jay was an unassuming, forgetful young man who despite chronic social awkwardness and a near complete absence of ambition had a pretty good life. that is, until he was duped into swapping minds with his old friend mark, who just happened to be an imprisoned serial killer. now safely ensconced in his unwitting pal’s body, mark wanders freely amongst jay’s other friends, several of which were former targets of his. just what is this diabolical monster planning?
mark mulder
a.k.a. “mr. x”
age: 26
occupation: n/a
mark was jay’s most trusted friend and confidant, until he went on a killing spree. he was caught and imprisoned, but he had an ace up his bloody sleeve – a device that allowed him to swap minds. thanks to this astonishing technology his body is now inhabited by his old friend. locked away in solitary confinement as a result of another of mark’s escape attempts, jay can do nothing to warn his friends on the outside about the monster in their midst.
melody “ellie” schmidt
age: 25
occupation: artist
ellie, as she prefers to be called, is an old friend of jay and mark’s from their college days, where she was part of the experiment that produced the mind swap device. unlike her friends, she has no memory of this, or of anything before the experiment. a cheerful if impatient woman, ellie has an incessant drive to do and achieve things, but tends not to put a great deal of thought into how to go about that. a talented artist, she can find inspiration in the strangest places.
chrissy schmidt
age: 25
occupation: works for the local council
chrissy is the identical twin sister of ellie, with whom she shares a close if complicated relationship. she is much more feminine than her sister, taking a great deal of pride in her appeal to the opposite sex. she is also more level-headed, though she is prone to bouts of gullibility. as with her sister she was an unwitting subject of the mind swap experiment. and as with her sister, her memories prior to that have been erased.
steve styles
age: 25
occupation: stand-up comedian
jay’s old friend and former flatmate, steve very nearly became one of mark’s victims. after battling alcohol addiction for years, steve finally conquered his demons and achieved his dream of being a stand-up comic. now in a stable relationship with chrissy, his life appears to be looking up. although he was friends with the major players at the time steve was not part of the mind swap experiment. how much he knows about it is currently unknown.
daniel beeny
age: 24
occupation: assistant manager of “the fifth kind retro toys & comics”
a relative newcomer to the group, beeny would describe himself as tough, virile, and the only clinically approved cure for lesbianism. his friends would describe him as short, pale and skinny. s’all swings and roundabouts really. he occasionally shows signs of greater depth, but said depth tends to fill in very quickly.

mick jones
age: 26
occupation: electrician
another aspiring comedian, mick takes an extremely relaxed approach to stand-up comedy, aided by copious amounts of alcohol. luckily for him, by the time he takes to the stage his audience is usually drunk too. something of any everyman, mick has emerged as the voice of reason in his social circle. whether he is qualified for that position is debatable.
lauren shaw
age: 24
occupation: chef
lauren is mick’s girlfriend and a former target of steve’s affections. somewhat awkwardly, she is now good friends with chrissy. lauren is a generally cheerful, easy-going gal who gets along with almost everyone, though she does have a tendency to put her foot in her mouth.
raquel rackham
age: 27
occupation: unknown
beautiful and enigmatic, raquel has popped a few times in the adventures of the main dominions, usually being on the receiving end of a pick-up attempt by beeny, steve or a random background character. she seemed (relatively) innocent enough. that is until she was unmasked as mark’s co-conspirator on the outside. she is now shacked up with her psychotic lover and his brand-new body, and it seems she will do anything his evil mind can dream up.
dave o brien
age: 35
occupation: landlord
the industrious and cheerfully amoral landlord of the gang’s regular watering hole the weaver club, dave looks and sounds remarkably like irish comedian dara o briain, and has a suspiciously similar name.
detective inspector henry dilkes
age: 29
occupation: detective
di dilkes is a ruthlessly determined police officer who is quite literally by the book – he has it tattooed on his back. The entire text, not just a picture of the book. It was he who brought mark mulder to justice, along with two of his cohorts, until mysterious government agents intervened and forced him off the case.
dr. jenna bateman
age: 28
occupation: forensic pathologist
an old friend of ellie’s, jenna has a penchant for morbid humour and gothic attire, and is a big fan of zombie movies. she works as a forensic pathologist, and some would say that she enjoys her work a little too much. along with di dilkes, she was instrumental in putting mark mulder and his cohorts behind bars, until the two of them were thrown off the case.
