And we’re back! I decided after three consecutive months of “mytharc” stories it was time for a standalone one, so I thought we’d explore Steve’s new-found success. Should be fun! Apologies for the lack of comics on Friday. I was feeling a little under the weather. Said weather being a hurricane of… actually, you’re better off not knowing.
There’s a few cameos in the first panel. From left to right: blogging wunderkind the Good Greatsby, fellow blogger and Ask The Dominions participant Susie Lindau, commenter Beth, who ended up looking more like my sister, and IzaakMak’s avatar on Nina’s top. Behind the girls, it’s good to see Scotty Brando has learned his lessons well.
Crowd scenes have their advantages! Glad you approve, though I must say you look better on Nina’s chest. If you’re interested I can make that into a wallpaper for you.
I loved that nickname. I remember the first time Mulder used it. It was a tense scene. He was arguing with Skinner, Scully had been abducted, the X-files had been closed, he’d just found out Krycek was a double agent. Skinner asked who Mulder thought was responsible for all of this and Mulder just blurted out, “Cancer Man!” I must admit, engrossed as I was, I laughed. It was a truly excellent nickname. Like the most hardcore Batman villain ever. ‘Course it helps that William B Davis is the Man!
You know As much as I liked the X-Files, I was just as annoyed by the terrible set lighting motif they chose for the show. I don’t know why so many shows do that, but it’s definitely a good way to get me to stop watching – which, because they were one of the worst offenders, is exactly what I did with the X-Files.
I did, however, think that William B. Davis’ “Cancer Man” was the best character in the show!
I know what you mean. Presumably they thought it looked spooky, or they were trying to appeal to the echolocating crowd without quite grasping that 2D TV screens don’t work that way. I stuck it out till the end, despite this and the loss of Mr B Davis, which sucked. As convincingly sleazy as James Pickens, Jr was, Deputy Director Kersh was never gonna fill Cancer Man’s big, ash-flecked shoes.
On the plus side, I thought Robert Patrick was excellent as John Doggett, and Annabeth Gish’s arse was spectacular.
I’ve been toying with the idea of showing Steve’s stand-up. I’m not sure how that would work in a comic format, but it would be fun to try. Perhaps I could do that as a bonus at the conclusion of this story line.
Yep, I’m feeling much better now. Just a little stressed ‘cos this has left me totally out of whack on comic production, hence the belated reply. Welcome back, by the way!
I’m sorry to say, Chrissy and Steve are back on now. Mmm. A successful stand-up career, TV exposure and a gorgeous girlfriend with an identical twin sister. I suddenly dislike Steve intensely.

Oh that is excellent my friend. You really did a great job of tying that all together!

OMG, I completely missed that. And my answer is Hell Yes!
Oh, I also missed the “cancer man” pop-up too…
OK, I’ll get on that tomorrow.

Welcome back! Take care of yourself!
I would love to hear Steve’s set…
Thanks Susie. It’s good to be back!

Just throw in a one-liner!
That could work. Steve’s good with one-liners!
A second cameo! It’s about time!
This looks like it’ll be a fun one. And yes, you should def do a Steve standup comic! That came out wrong, LOL!
PS your sister sounds hot! That also came out wrong.
I’m sorry to disappoint you, but my sister doesn’t bat for that particular team.
Neither do I, you dirty minded bugger!
“Not that there’s anything wrong with that!”
Hope you’re fully recovered by now.
Maybe the pipe isn’t lit. Just a thought
May I say Chrissy looks good…is she single now ? sorry lost track.
