Truly, is there anything funnier than a white English guy who thinks he’s latino? I posit that there is not.
From now on I’m gonna be following a new format – that monthly episodic thingy I mentioned in the domain review. This month will focus on the inimitable Steve Styles in his quest for stardom. Will he succeed? Will he fail? Will he get drunk (yes). Stay tuned to find out, same Domain time, same Domain channel!
Fun a bit of fun, I’m also gonna award one geek point to anyone who can identify the specific source of Steve’s tirade, and another to anyone who can identify the source of the line in panel one. A “Master Of His Domain” award will be given to anyone who can identify the man in the photo. Good Luck!
Congratulations, you’ve earned 10 MDP (Master of his Domain Points)! That first line was indeed uttered by the incomparable Kent Brockman in the classic “The Shinning” story from The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror V! As for your second guess, your conversely very close and a million miles away!
Blimey I feel a bit out of my depth here
I even had to Google Eddie Guerrero. Sorry.
Bearing in mind your interest in Seinfield Jake I wondered if the Pic was prehaps George Costanza.Probable not though.
btw Can we redeem these points anywhere eg Tesco, although in my case its probable academic.
And while it is academic in your case (although given the name of the comic that was a fair stab in the dark!), I will be keeping a mental record of these and any future geek points. What do these points earn you? Respect.
In fairness, I called it a Master of his Domain Award because the chances of you guessing who that is in the picture were near fucking nil, so if you had got it I’d have been super impressed! I’ve decided to make it a little easier and post a larger view of the mysterious man below. You won’t win a MOHD Award for guessing it now, but if you do guess correctly from this horrible likeness I’ll still be impressed!
Congratulations to maelstromatic for getting in there first, though I’ll also give points to Paul since maelstromatic’s comment hadn’t been approved when he left his guess. Yes, it was indeed the legendary Bernard Bresslaw, though quite why there is a picture of the Carry On stallwart on the Master’s wall is anyone’s guess.
Since I did have to give you a couple of nudges to get the answer I was gonna give you 5 MDP (Master of his Domain Points) each, but given that shitty likeness and small size of the picture in the comic couldn’t have helped, I’ve decided to give you 10 apiece. So as things stand, Paul now has 10 MDP, while maelstromatic is in the lead with 20 MDP. I might do this again sometime, though I might not necessarily tell you that I have . All part of that keeping you on your toes thing I’ve alluded to in the past!
By the way, there are still 10 points on offer for guessing the specific source of Steve’s tirade. maelstromatic got close, but not close enough!
The source of Steve’s tirade is Eddie Guerrero (I had the right answer but to the wrong question)
It’s aimed at Rey Mysterio I think
“I realized that each and everyone of you were stealing my passion … my energy ….. you were stealing my LATINO HEAT!!!!
And no-one, and i say no-one, is going to steal my Latino Heat….. again!! AGAIN!”
Outstanding work, my man! It was indeed from the newly-heel turned Eddie’s promo the week after he beat the ever living motherfuck out of Rey Mysterio, which you can view here. I swear I haven’t heard anyone get heat like that since. Just goes to show how awesome that man was.
That officially draws this first geek contest to a close with maelstromatic winning decisively with 30MDP. Your prize is to read out the credits in a style of my choosing…. except there’s only really one credit. Balls. I really should’ve thought this prize through.
I did wonder where maelstromatic’s comment had come from as I was sure it wasnt there before. Thought prehaps I was going mad or maybe blame it on (a lack of) the alcohol.
I can see that I am going to have to ‘swot’ up on my Wrestling knowledge for the next Competetion. I do have av ague memory of watching Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks on ITV but I dont think thats going to help much.
I watched a couple of episodes of World of Sport when they were shown on The Wrestling Channel a couple of years ago. The only match I remember was Steven (now William) Regal and Robbie Brookside versus Kendo Nagasaki and someone I can’t remember, with Brookside complaining after the match about Nagasaki “doing things” to his mind! You don’t get enough hypnosis in wrestling anymore, though at least they balance that out with lots of midgets.
I also watched a few episodes of GAEA women’s wrestling. They were flat out scary…

“another to anyone who can identify the source of the line in panel one”
I believe it’s uttered by the honourable journalist Mr Kent Brockman
Does the fact that the pop up on the panels says “who’s your papi?” suggest that the guy in the photo has something to do with Eddie Guerrero?
Either that or he looks like Bill from King of The Hill

You had to Google Eddie Guerrero?!? For shame!

Is it your dad?
Thanks for the larger Pic Jake.
Funnily enough he does look a lot like one of my Uncles but I don’t suppose its him
Do we get a Clue?
Me: “Frankly, I don’t see why I should give you a clue.”
Paul/maelstromatic: “I Only Arsked!”
Me: “Oh OK, then.”
Bernard Bresslaw
Hmmmm if I said my Uncles name was Bernard would I be close
Not wiahing to commit myself

Fuck it, you’re style will be soap opera!
Thanks Jake and congrats to maelstromatic.:)
